OCZ SSD 250GB
New 250GB 2,5” SATA SSD from OCZ has new line name - Summit. It has new controller Samsung with 64MB cache memory which gives it really interesting capabilities. It greatly improves slow writing sequence which we had seen in older models which were equipped with JMicron controller. Test bed contained CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 with motherboard Gigabyte P35 with south bridge ICH9 jižním and finally all testing Windows Vista x64 SP1. Everything was clear after first look at the results. Summit even breaks records of Intel X25-M which was widely considered as current best SSD drive. Still for best performance you will have to get classic hard drive Western Digital VelociRaptor in RAID0 mode. Most important information for most of us is when and for how much new line of OCZ Summit will appear in shops. OCZ will make three versions with 60, 120 and 250 GB and release date was set to April 2009. What is also interesting is pricing - 249, 499 and 999 USD for Summit models which is half price of Intel X25.
