Seagate series 7200.11a
Recently we have seen increased numbers of Seagate 7200.11 hard drives failures. This problem usually appears on drives with capacity between 500GB and 1TB with part number ST3500320A, ST3500320AS, ST31000340AS. Drives Seagate 7200.11 use new firmware which completely change the way how it works with defective parts of partition table. Main reason for this problem is buffer underun which leads to wrong inscription to error tables. Theses drive then show in operating system nonsense size (usually 0MB) or these drives are not detected at all (usually that’s a sign of electronic parts failure). For this reason recovery of data from these models was extremely hard and often not even possible. Our company Microshop S.à r.l. has developed procedure with which we are able to recover data in 90 percent of cases.
